The NERD Lab (Neural Engineering & Rehabilitation Design Lab; principal investigator Azadeh Yazdan) received the Lab Safety Award and a Lab Safety Innovation Award from University of Washington Environmental Health and Safety.
Courtnie Paschall won the Blackrock Student Travel Award Winner for Society for Neuroscience meeting and has spun-off the company InVirtualis Inc. to build on her graduate thesis work.

CNT faculty member Azadeh Yazdan has been selected to give the UW Science in Medicine New Investigator Lecture on December 7, 2023, 1:00-2:00 pm. Dr. Yazdan’s lecture is titled “Engineering cortical plasticity in primate brain.” Dr. Yazdan also presented a talk titled “Targeted reorganisation of the brain for neurorehabilitation” at the Image of the Future conference (Gisborne, New Zealand) on November 24, 2023.
UW graduate student John Ferre (Advisor: Adrienne Fairhall) will defend his thesis “Exploring neural correlates of cognition during a complex decision making task” on Monday, December 4, 2023, 9:00-10:00 am (PAT, Room C-520 and via Zoom).
High school students are encouraged to
apply to the CNT YSP-REACH summer program. The program will take place July 15-19, 2024, in-person (Seattle, WA) and virtually (via Zoom). Students will receive an introduction to neuroscience, neural engineering, and neuroethics, and learn about the latest developments in brain-computer interfaces. Application deadline: March 15, 2024.
