This award recognizes and promotes a technical paper that has made identifiable contributions in the areas of neurotechnology or human-machine interaction.

Purpose: This award recognizes and promotes a paper that has made identifiable contributions in the areas of neurotechnology or human-machine interaction.
Award: $1,000 in the form of a travel reimbursement. The $1,000 can be used for hotel, registration and/or travel to a scientific meeting/conference of the student’s choice. Travel must be completed by December 31, 2025.
Eligibility: Undergraduate and graduate students associated with the Center for Neurotechnology (CNT) at the University of Washington, San Diego State University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology are eligible to apply. To be considered for this award, the applicant’s paper needs to be published or accepted for publication between January 1, 2024 and December 31, 2024.
Basis for Judging: A selection committee with expertise in neural technology or human machine interaction will be appointed by the CNT. Papers will be judged based on technical merit, originality, relevance, potential impact and clarity of the written paper.
