American Society of Pain and Neuroscience

The American Society of Pain and Neuroscience (ASPN) was created to bring the top minds in the fields of Pain and Neuroscience together. The society has a mission to improve education, highlight scientific curiosity, establish best practices, and to elevate each other in a quest to improve the field. ASPN was established to lead the way toward an age of scientific enlightenment via mutual collaboration with physician members, scientists, governmental agencies, centers of higher education and other medical societies.

Bakken Medical Device Center

The Earl E. Bakken Medical Devices Center at the University of Minnesota is an interdisciplinary program that sits within the Institute for Engineering in Medicine and combines basic research, applied and translational research, education and training, and outreach and public engagement all related to medical devices.

BRAMS

BRAMS, the International Laboratory for BRAin, Music and Sound Research, is a unique center dedicated to research excellence in the study of music and auditory cognition with a focus on neuroscience. The research center is located in Montreal, Canada, and it is jointly affiliated with the University of Montreal and McGill University.

Buerke Center for Entrepreneurship

Part of the University of Washington’s (UW’s) Foster Business School, the Buerke Center for Entrepreneurship provides resources and education for UW students interested in entrepreneurship, tech transfer, business and startup formation, including mentoring and accelerator support.

Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation

The Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation is dedicated to curing spinal cord injury by advancing innovative research and improving quality of life for individuals and families impacted by paralysis.

FDA: Office of Science and Engineering Laboratories

The FDA Office of Science and Engineering Laboratories (OSEL) is composed of scientists and engineers with a diversity of expertise from neuroscience to artificial intelligence and machine learning. The organization’s goal is to promote innovation for the development of new medical devices while accelerating patient access to these devices and other innovative, safe and effective medical therapies.

Graeme Clark Institute for Biomedical Engineering

The Graeme Clark Institute for Biomedical Engineering promotes and coordinates the extensive bioengineering activities that exist across The University of Melbourne, drawing on emerging scientific and engineering approaches to drive transformative clinical solutions.

HINRI

The mission of the High Impact Network of Responsible Innovators, or HINRI, is to connect social entrepreneurs and innovative organizations to sources of capital, strategic partners, technology solutions and servant leaders, so they can become more effective at saving lives, saving money and having a sustainable impact. HINRI is an accelerator for nonprofits, and it connects organizations to venture philanthropy.

IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society

The IEEE is the world’s largest international society of biomedical engineers and the leading publisher of original research in biomedical engineering with 11 technical journals and transactions. With over 12,000 members in 122 chapters worldwide, 47 student branch chapters and 18 student clubs, the EMBS has a wide variety of chapters and networking opportunities for its members. Chapters provide local activities such as workshops, tutorials and speaker talks for members who may not have the opportunity to attend other worldwide EMB activities.

Institute of Translational Health Sciences

The Institute of Translational Health Sciences is dedicated to speeding science to clinical practice for the benefit of patients and communities throughout Washington, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana, Idaho, (WWAMI) and beyond. ITHS promotes this translation of scientific discovery to practice by fostering innovative research, cultivating multi-disciplinary research partnerships, and ensuring a pipeline of next generation researchers through robust educational and career development programs.

Life Science Washington Institute

Life Science Washington Institute assists life science researchers, entrepreneurs and companies in bridging the gap between discovery and commercialization. In particular, their Washington Innovation Network (WIN) provides mentoring programs for new entrepreneurs in many fields such as neuroscience and neural engineering. The WIN Mentoring Program is a milestone-focused program in which entrepreneurs of early-stage ventures are matched with seasoned volunteer mentors.

MED Institute

The MED Institute is dedicated to bringing new medical products to market that are safe and effective for patients. They leverage their engineering, regulatory and clinical expertise to support university labs, organizations and companies that need help moving their products from concept to commercialization. Their focus is on organizations involved with medical device development.

Neural Education

The Neural Education Non-profit is dedicated to bringing safety, structure, and a sense of belonging to every student and classroom by uniting the neuroscience of learning with the power of teaching. Neural Education leverages district, state, and university partnerships to connect educators with industry experts in neuroscience.

Oregon Health Sciences University Brain Institute

The OHSU Brain Institute is dedicated to understanding, healing and protecting the brain through cutting-edge research, outstanding patient care, innovative public education, and training of future neuroscience leaders for Oregon and the the world. Their mission is made possible through many partnerships between OHSU centers, institutes and departments.

Parkinson's Foundation

The Parkinson’s Foundation makes life better for people with Parkinson’s disease by improving care and advancing research toward a cure. They work to build on the energy, experience and passion of their global Parkinson’s community.

PennState Clinical Simulation Center

The PennState Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center and PennState College of Medicine combined run the PennState Clinical Simulation Center as part of their physician education program. The mission of the center is to improve patient outcomes with effective programs that promote and enhance practitioner skills, clinical competence, teamwork and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Sampl

Sampl is an interdisciplinary research group focused on machine learning, including deep learning, specialized hardware for training and interface, and differentiable programming for various applications including brain-computer interface processing. They are a collaboration of Sampa, Syslab, Mode and PLSE, and they are part of the Paul G. Allen School of Computer Science & Engineering at the University of Washington.

San Diego State University Technology Transfer Office

The San Diego State University (SDSU) Technology Transfer Office strives to deploy research products to improve society and bolster the San Diego regional economy on behalf of SDSU.

Shirley Ryan AbilityLab

Formerly known as the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago, Shirley Ryan AbilityLab is the first-ever “translational” research hospital where clinicians, scientists, innovators and technologists work together in the same space, applying research in real time to physical medicine and rehabilitation.

Surrey NeuroTech Lab

Affiliated with Surrey Memorial Hospital and the University of British Columbia, Surrey NeuroTech Lab unites researchers and clinicians to accelerate healthcare innovation in the areas of brain injury, rehabilitation devices and spinal cord injury.

The BRAIN Collaborative Research Center

The Building Reliable Advances and Innovation in Neurotechnology (BRAIN) Center is an Industry/University Collaborative Research Center at Arizona State University and the University of Houston. This partnership allows rigorous testing of efficacy, safety and long-term reliability of neurotechnology that would not be otherwise possible within the traditional ‘silos’ of academic, industry, regulatory and clinical communities.

The Lake Park Foundation

The Lake Park Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing resources for unique programs and activities to enhance student learning. The Foundation supports several programs and activities including innovative partnerships, grants for teachers and scholarship opportunities.

The Translational Neuro-Engineering Laboratory at Massachusetts General Hospital

The Translational Neuro-Engineering Laboratory (TNL) focuses on the development of closed-loop brain stimulation techniques as therapies for psychiatric disorders using deep-brain stimulation. TNL uses both animal models and human subjects to develop and test new stimulation methods and parameters to influence brain circuitry.

The Wyss Center

The Wyss Center is an independent, non-profit, neurotechnology research and development organization. The center provides the expertise, facilities and financial resources to transform creative neuroscience research into clinical solutions to improve the lives of people with nervous system disorders. The center’s experienced multidisciplinary neurotechnology development team from industry and academia provides the integrates scientific, engineering, clinical, regulatory, legal and business expertise required to guide high-risk, high-reward projects on their journey from research to product.

UW CoMotion

CoMotion at the University of Washington (UW) is a collaborative innovation hub dedicated to expanding the economic and societal impact of the UW community.

UW Computational Neuroscience Center

The University of Washington (UW) Computational Neuroscience Center is a focal point for research in mathematical and computational neuroscience spanning the full spectrum of scales, mechanisms and functions of the brain–from ion channel stochasticity in auditory processing to insect flight control to human/computer interfaces. The center, which also houses the Swartz Center for Theoretical Neuroscience, is the UW campus home for undergraduate, graduate and postdoctoral training and research programs linking theoretical and experimental neuroscience to advance understanding of the principles of neural computation.

UW Institute for Neuroengineering

The UW Institute for Neuroengineering (UWIN) brings together faculty, students and staff from the entire University of Washington (UW) campus to solve some of today’s greatest scientific challenges about neural system function. UWIN forms a bridge that links advances in biology, computing, devices, data science and computational neuroscience. They also leverage new and existing partnerships with industry in the private sector, blurring the boundary between the UW and the surrounding interests in neural engineering.

WE-REACH

WE-REACH, the Washington Entrepreneurial Research Evaluation and Commercialization Hub, provides significant project funding and training to facilitate and to accelerate the transformation of health research innovation into market-ready products and services that impact health outcomes. As an innovation partner, WE-REACH has supported CNT events such as the Neural Engineering Tech Studio and provided guidance to CNT students looking to advance their ideas into intellectual property.

Weill Neurohub

The Weill Neurohub brings together world-class researchers and clinicians from UC Berkeley, UCSF and the UW to foster development of new treatments for neurological and psychiatric diseases. Their network nurtures collaborations between researchers in a variety of disciplines including engineering, computer science, physics, chemistry and math across partner institutions.
